2026 Six-Coin Silver Proof Year Set – 60th Anniversary of Decimal Currency

Royal Australian Mint  |  SKU: RAM-11878

2026 marks the 60th anniversary of Australia’s transition to decimal currency, introduced on 14 February 1966. Prior to this, Australia used the Australian pound, based on the British system and introduced in 1910. Coins in circulation included the halfpenny, penny, threepence, sixpence, shilling and florin—where 12 pence equalled one shilling, and 20 shillings equalled one pound.

This 2026 Fine Silver Proof Set commemorates this historic milestone. The 50c features a special reverse celebrating Australia’s iconic pre-decimal coinage, while the 10c showcases a contemporary interpretation of the decimal coins still in use today. These designs, created by the Mint’s Aaron Baggio, complement the standard circulating reverses of the 5c, 20c, $1 and $2 coins, which complete the set.

Struck from fine silver to the Royal Australian Mint’s impeccable proof standard, each coin displays outstanding detail and mirror-like finishes—highlighting the craftsmanship and precision of Australia’s circulating coinage.
