2025 Aussie Big Things 2 $1 AlBr Uncirculated – The Big Golden Guitar

The Big Golden Guitar stands proudly at the southern entrance to Tamworth, New South Wales—on the traditional lands of the Kamilaroi people—in Australia’s country music capital. Towering 12 metres high and crafted from fibreglass and wood, the giant guitar is modelled after the iconic Golden Guitar Award, presented to winners at the annual Country Music Awards of Australia during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Unveiled in 1988 by legendary country singer Slim Dusty, the Big Golden Guitar has become a major tourist draw, welcoming over 100,000 visitors each year. The surrounding complex also features the Tamworth Visitor Information Centre and the National Guitar Museum, offering visitors a full celebration of Australia’s country music heritage.
