2022 50c 75th Anniversary of The Australian Signals Directorate - reveal and protect

SKU: RAM10893
The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) safeguards Australia against global threats by uncovering foreign intelligence and protecting our own. To mark the 75th anniversary of the ASD, the Royal Australian Mint issued this remarkable 2022 50c Uncirculated Coin. Within the coin's design lie six encrypted messages. Are you up to the challenge of deciphering these codes and unlocking their secrets? Originating during World War II, the ASD's genesis saw Australian military personnel intercepting and decoding Japanese radio signals as part of General MacArthur's South-West Pacific campaign. Post-war, the Defence Signals Bureau was established by the Australian government to continue this vital work, ensuring both the exploitation of foreign communications and bolstering communications security across military and government sectors. Over the ensuing decades, the ASD underwent numerous transformations and name changes, adapting to meet the evolving security demands of the nation. In May 2013, the title of "Australian Signals Directorate" was adopted, reflecting its comprehensive governmental role in bolstering Australia's national security. As the ASD commemorates seventy-five years of dedicated service and protection, it also looks ahead, embracing its role as Australia's guardians in the digital age. Contained within a stunning presentation card, the encapsulated coin features a complex design, including a four-tiered coded message and two additional concealed codes awaiting discovery. On the obverse side, Queen Elizabeth II's effigy, crafted by Jody Clark, is accompanied by elements hinting at the first level of the coded messages. Meanwhile, the reverse side showcases three sets of encoded text alongside the ASD's 75th anniversary emblem. Mintage: 50,000
