2013 $2 60th anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Over a year following her ascension in 1952, Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in Westminster Abbey. In 2013, to commemorate this historic event, the Royal Australian Mint issued a special colored coin for circulation. The design showcases a stylized depiction of St. Edward’s Crown encircled by rings, one of which features a purple pattern—a color synonymous with royalty.
