 On Sunday, 4 October 2009, a victorious Melbourne Storm defiantly claimed their second NRL premiership in three years, playing in a fourth consecutive Grand Final.

The win, at Sydney's ANZ stadium, was one of the great grand finals of the modern era, confirming the Storm's place among the pantheon of legendary teams.

The Storm put the pressure on early, surging to 22-6 after 58 minutes. The Eels fought back valiantly but to no avail while Billy Slater's late try in the second half earned him the Clive Churchill Medal for best on ground.
